Typhoon Wipha caused heavy rainfall and flooding in the Philippines, leaving five dead, injuring five, and displacing tens of thousands. The storm, now a severe tropical storm, is approaching northern Vietnam with winds up to 102 kph. No casualties have been reported in Vietnam yet, but 350,000 soldiers are on standby as 500mm of rainfall is expected. In the Philippines, Manila was severely affected, with rivers overflowing and over 48,000 people evacuated. Two people are missing after being swept away by floodwaters. The Philippines faces around 20 storms annually, with climate change intensifying their impact, especially in poorer regions.
