Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia chaired a high-level task force meeting with leaders from Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Manipur to boost the handloom and handicrafts sector in Northeast India. Attendees included Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio, Mizoram CM Lalduhoma, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, and Assam’s Handloom Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma. The meeting aimed to promote sustainable development, improve market access, build artisan capacity, and generate livelihoods. Scindia emphasized aligning efforts with PM Modi’s vision of “Fashion for Environment and Empowerment.” Discussions focused on a collaborative roadmap to empower artisans, improve infrastructure, and use cultural heritage for economic growth.
