In 2017, Ahmed Ginah moved from Egypt to Tanzania with a dream, later founding "Dream Trading" to export aluminium and steel goods. Nicknamed the "Mayor of Egyptians in Dar-es-Salaam", he supports fellow Egyptian migrants by offering jobs, housing, and translation help. Amid limited opportunities in Egypt, many young Egyptians are migrating south, seeking economic prospects in African nations like Tanzania. South-south migration is growing, with over 54,000 Egyptians in non-Arab African countries by 2021. Ginah highlights increasing demand for Egyptian products and a friendly business climate in Tanzania, which, unlike Europe, remains open to skilled North African migrants and entrepreneurs.
