Krutrim, the AI startup founded by Ola’s Bhavish Aggarwal, has laid off over 100 employees in a second round of job cuts, mainly affecting its linguistics team. This move follows an earlier layoff round in June and aligns with a strategic shift to build leaner teams after launching its AI assistant, Kruti. As 80% of Kruti’s training is complete, fewer linguistics staff are needed. Despite raising $50 million and committing ₹2,000 crore to AI development, Krutrim is focusing on efficient resource management amid global tech sector budget tightening, signaling a shift from team expansion to capital efficiency.
