Meghalaya Documentary Bags Top Honour at International Caving Film Festival

The documentary "Achik Kol: The Uncharted Caves of Garo Hills" won first place in the professional category at the 19th International Congress of Speleology in Brazil, bringing global recognition to Meghalaya’s cave systems. Directed by Gregory Allya Warjri and produced by NOMADS Film, it showcases the 2024 Core Geo Caving Expedition’s scientific and cultural exploration, including the discovery of a prehistoric whale fossil. Featuring collaboration between local Achik cavers and international experts, the film highlights Meghalaya's rich underground heritage. It has been screened internationally, with plans for local viewings to inspire young explorers and promote future cave research in the state.
