On July 28, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and briefed him on the state’s progress in socio-economic indicators and welfare schemes. He invited the PM to visit Assam on September 8 for the birth centenary celebration of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and to inaugurate the country’s first bio-ethanol plant in Numaligarh. Sarma also met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and invited her to lay the foundation stone of Kanaklata Barua University in Gohpur, which will focus on industry-oriented programs like AI, quantum computing, and robotics.
