The Central Committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA), Mizoram's largest civil society group, has urged the state government to act swiftly to prevent a possible influx of people from Assam following eviction drives against alleged encroachers there. YMA, with four lakh members, emphasized the need for strict enforcement of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) and advised its local units in border districts—Aizawl, Kolasib, and Mamit—to stay vigilant. The group expressed concerns about illegal migration affecting Mizoram’s demographic stability and urged proactive steps to safeguard territorial integrity and maintain law and order along the 164-km Assam-Mizoram border.
