Assam hit-and-run: Nandini Kashyap arrested, mother says police told her to avoid hospital for 'safety'

Assamese actress Nandini Kashyap was arrested by Panbazar Women Police in connection with a July 25 hit-and-run case that killed 21-year-old Samiul Haque, a student and GMC worker. Following interrogation and public pressure, Kashyap was formally arrested after being detained in North Guwahati. Samiul died from injuries after being hit by a speeding vehicle allegedly driven by Kashyap. The case sparked statewide protests led by student unions. Police are analyzing CCTV and forensic evidence. Kashyap’s family expressed regret, claiming they tried to help but were threatened. Her mother said police advised them to avoid public exposure for safety reasons.
