After 17 years, a Special NIA court in Mumbai acquitted all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Shrikant Purohit. The court ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the charges under the UAPA, Arms Act, and other laws, granting the accused the benefit of doubt. The blast on September 29, 2008, in Malegaon, Maharashtra, killed six and injured over 100. Sadhvi Pragya was linked through a motorcycle used in the blast, while Purohit was accused of aiding the radical group Abhinav Bharat in planning the attack.
