Arunachal Pradesh is emerging as India’s hydropower capital, with Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighting its 56,000 MW potential as key to the nation’s clean energy future. He noted that major projects like the 600 MW Kameng and 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower are progressing well, while the 2,880 MW Dibang project is set to become India’s largest. Thirteen new projects (15,000 MW) are planned within three years. Khandu emphasized benefits beyond electricity—improved livelihoods, ₹4,171 crore in free power, ₹735 crore for local communities, and ₹1,884 crore in annual dividends—positioning the state as a model for sustainable, inclusive green growth.
