The Manipur Forest Department has imposed a complete ban on camping, trekking, and expeditions in the Langol Reserve Forest, especially the Punshilok area, due to rising illegal trespassing. Issued on July 29 by the Divisional Forest Officer, the order cites concerns over ecological damage and wildlife threats. All recreational activities are strictly prohibited until further notice. Forest officials are directed to increase patrols and take action under the Indian Forest Act, 1927, and Manipur Forest Rules, 2021. Offenders may face imprisonment or fines. The department stressed that prior permission is mandatory for any activities within reserved forest areas.
