Tripura CM Declares ₹5,000 Monthly Honorarium for Tribal Chiefs

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced an increase in the monthly honorarium for Pradhan Samajpatis (tribal heads) from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000. The state has 19 recognised tribes and 20 Samajpatis, with the Jamatia tribe having two. The cabinet also removed restrictions that previously excluded government employees and pensioners from receiving the honorarium. Saha highlighted the important role of Samajpatis in preserving tribal culture and traditions. The move comes ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. Saha also met tribal leaders recently to review the situation in tribal regions and address community concerns.
