India has built a strategic road in Bhutan near Doklam, close to the China border, to boost mobility and military access. Constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at a cost of ₹254 crore, the road connects to Bhutan’s Haa Valley and leads toward China’s Chumbi Valley. Inaugurated by Bhutan’s PM Tobgay Tshering, the road benefits both civilians and the military. It is part of BRO’s Project Dantak, which includes five new bridges and all-weather access. This development strengthens India-Bhutan ties amid Chinese pressure. The road’s strategic importance grew after the 2017 Doklam standoff between Indian and Chinese troops.
