Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on September 8 to launch Bhupen Hazarika’s year-long birth centenary celebrations, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced. Modi will first visit Numaligarh Refinery Limited in Golaghat to inaugurate a ₹4,200 crore bio-ethanol plant, then head to Mangaldoi to inaugurate the Guwahati Ring Road, a Brahmaputra bridge, and lay the foundation stone of Mangaldoi Medical College Hospital. In the evening, he will attend the centenary event in Guwahati. Additionally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam on August 29 to inaugurate the new Raj Bhavan and attend a felicitation event for NDA panchayat members.
