Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the ₹52.25 crore Kamrup District Court Complex in Amingaon, emphasizing the need for swift justice to strengthen democracy. He noted Assam’s conviction rate rose from 5% in 2021 to 26%, still below the national average of 65%. Stressing the use of AI for faster case resolution, he called for legal reforms and training of new professionals. The new complex houses 14 modern courtrooms, digital facilities, and spaces for vulnerable witnesses and detainees. Sarma also announced plans for a new Gauhati High Court building and highlighted a 60% drop in crime registration since 2020.
