U.S. authorities have charged two Chinese nationals, Chuan Geng and Shiwei Yang, with illegally exporting advanced Nvidia GPUs worth millions to China, violating export controls. From October 2022 to July 2025, they allegedly used their California-based company, ALX Solutions Inc, to ship GPUs—including Nvidia H100s—via Singapore and Malaysia using false labels. Payments came from Chinese and Hong Kong firms, bypassing required U.S. licenses. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison. Nvidia condemned the smuggling, emphasizing compliance with export rules. The U.S. continues restricting chip exports to China, citing national security, while China accuses Washington of trade manipulation.
