Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced a ₹240-crore investment over three years to transform the state into a floriculture hub under the ‘Floriculture Mission 1.0’. Aimed at creating a high-value, climate-resilient livelihood for farmers, the mission will benefit over 3,000 farmers with ₹7 lakh subsidies each for inputs, infrastructure, and training. It targets cultivation of high-demand flowers like orchids and lilies. The initiative is expected to generate ₹600 crore in direct profits. Two service providers will ensure technical support and market linkage. Sangma highlighted the mission as part of Meghalaya’s broader agricultural strategy to boost farmer incomes and sustainability.
