ISRO aims to complete its third satellite launch pad (TLP) by September 2028 for the Gaganyaan mission, as informed by Minister Jitendra Singh in Lok Sabha. The TLP will support the Next Generation Launch Vehicle (NGLV) and heavier strategic satellite launches. Civil and infrastructure works are underway, with full commissioning expected by March 2029. The project received financial approval in March 2025, and ISRO will collaborate with private firms and MSMEs. This new facility will also act as a backup to the existing second launch pad at Sriharikota, as the first pad nears decommissioning due to age and limitations.
