The United States has temporarily suspended routine visa services for Zimbabwean citizens, citing concerns with the Zimbabwean government. The US State Department stated the pause, effective Friday, is part of efforts to prevent visa overstays and misuse. Diplomatic and official visas are exempt. This move aligns with broader Trump-era immigration policies, including travel bans and stricter vetting demands on 36 countries, mainly in Africa, including Zimbabwe. Additionally, a new visa bond policy for Malawi and Zambia requires applicants to pay up to $15,000 for tourist or business visas, refundable only if they leave the US before their visa expires.
