On Sunday, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated three Vande Bharat trains: Bengaluru–Belagavi (Karnataka), Ajni (Nagpur)–Pune (Maharashtra), and Katra (J&K)–Amritsar (Punjab), taking the total to 75 operational trains nationwide. Flagged off from KSR Bengaluru station, the Belagavi service is Karnataka’s 11th Vande Bharat and its fastest on the route, covering 611 km in 8.5 hours. The eight-car train seats 530 and links key educational, industrial, and agricultural hubs. Other routes connect major districts in Maharashtra and Punjab. Since its debut in 2019, Vande Bharat has carried 6.3 crore passengers, boosting connectivity and economic growth across diverse regions.
