DoNER Orders Manipur to Build Dedicated Road Corridor Connecting Hill Districts

The Ministry of DoNER has asked the Manipur Government to consider developing a dedicated road corridor linking Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts in the hill areas, following a request from Kuki Inpi Manipur to President Draupadi Murmu. The proposal aligns with the vision of the German/Tiger road. However, the Foothill Naga Coordination Committee opposed it, imposing a bandh, later lifted after the government clarified it had not approved the road and would take legal action against illegal works. KIM also urged declaring the route a strategic, humanitarian corridor under central security, with special funding from various ministries for hill connectivity.
