On “Aama Samman Diwas” in Rangpo, Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang distributed ₹20,000 each to 32,000 non-working mothers under the Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana, the first instalment of ₹40,000 annual aid to support and recognise homemakers. The event coincided with the 8th anniversary of his release from jail, attended by his mother. Tamang pledged to include more women in the scheme and announced “Nari Adalats” for community-led dispute resolution under Mission Shakti’s Sambal sub-scheme. Highlighting Sikkim’s declining fertility rate, he promoted pro-family policies, and revisited his imprisonment, alleging it was due to false corruption charges by the previous government.
