Jharkhand BJP chief Babulal Marandi has accused a senior state police officer of plotting to “frame” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma during last year’s assembly polls, when Sarma was BJP’s in-charge for Jharkhand. Marandi alleged the officer twice sent someone to Delhi and Guwahati to execute the plan, vowing to present evidence. He questioned CM Hemant Soren’s awareness of the plot, warning such officers could target him too. Marandi claimed the same group had earlier sought evidence against Soren. Sarma, recalling a suspicious encounter with two women during the polls, said he would discuss the matter with Marandi, citing possible political rivalry.
