The Central Silk Board’s SSPC, Kaliabari, in collaboration with the District Sericulture Office, organised a one-day Muga Field Day at Williamnagar to promote sustainable muga silk farming. Chaired by Scientist-B Shri Dharavath Saicharan, the event highlighted muga’s potential for long-term income. Officials urged farmers to adopt improved rearing practices for higher yield and quality. Technical sessions covered host plant care, pest control, and scientific grainage. Farmers learned about the Mera Resham Mera Abhiman campaign and participated in field visits showcasing best practices. The programme ended with an interactive session addressing challenges and exploring market linkages for cocoons and yarn.
