Assamese film Hiraeth, written, directed, and shot by Chow Partha Borgohain, has been selected for the 2025 Chicago South Asian Film Festival. The 100-minute social realism drama, mainly shot in Dibrugarh, follows Pori, a village woman displaced by floods, facing urban poverty and injustice. Starring Meghali Kalita and Ashim Kumar Sharma, the film highlights marginalized struggles. Borgohain expressed gratitude for the recognition, dedicating the film to resilient individuals. Produced by Sengpem Borgohain, with cinematography by Borgohain, it features a talented cast and crew. Borgohain, born in Arunachal Pradesh, trained in Chennai and works as a freelance cinematographer and director since 2014.
