Authorities in Mali have arrested two army generals, several soldiers, civilians, and a suspected French intelligence agent, accused of plotting to destabilize the country. Security Minister General Daoud Aly Mohammedine confirmed the arrests, saying the situation was under control and the conspiracy, which began on August 1, had been foiled. The transitional government described the suspects as “marginal elements” of the armed forces, with support from foreign states. The Frenchman, identified as Yann Christian Bernard Vezilier, allegedly acted on behalf of French intelligence, mobilizing political, civil, and military figures. Photos of the suspects were shared on social media and state TV.
