CEC Gyanesh Kumar: '65 Lakh Voters Deleted from Bihar Rolls Within 56 Hours of SC Order'

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that the Election Commission (EC) uploaded the list of 65 lakh voters deleted from Bihar's draft electoral roll within 56 hours of the Supreme Court’s directive. He urged voters and political parties to file claims and objections within the remaining 15-day period, warning that complaints after September 1 would be ineffective. Kumar defended the Summary Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, explaining it was done to correct electoral roll imperfections demanded by parties over two decades. He dismissed opposition “vote theft” allegations, emphasizing transparent, cooperative efforts by voters and officials. The EC plans to announce SIR timelines for other states soon.
