The North East Students’ Federation (NESO) and Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), along with other student bodies, staged a sit-in at Naga Solidarity Park demanding eviction of illegal immigrants from the Northeast. A memorandum submitted to Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio highlighted concerns over demographic imbalance, cultural threats, and political instability due to unchecked migration, particularly in Assam, Tripura, and Meghalaya. The organisations criticised the Centre for inaction and demanded detection, deportation, sealing of the Indo-Bangladesh border, and stronger security. They also sought inter-state coordination, legal safeguards for indigenous rights, and a Special Review Committee to address the migration-driven population surge.
