A diplomatic clash has erupted after Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu accused French President Emmanuel Macron of fuelling antisemitism by planning to recognise Palestinian statehood. France dismissed the charge as “abject” and reaffirmed its protection of Jews. Netanyahu also criticised Australian PM Anthony Albanese for “betraying Israel” after Canberra announced plans to recognise Palestine and revoked the visa of Israeli politician Simcha Rothman. In retaliation, Israel cancelled visas for Australian diplomats. Australia condemned this as unjustified, accusing Israel of isolating itself. Meanwhile, the UN warned of worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, citing mass displacement, aid restrictions, and ongoing Israeli bombardment.
