Assamese director Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap’s debut feature film ‘Kok Kok Kookkook’ has been selected for the Vision Asia section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea. Produced by Kolkata’s SRFTI, the film is a magic realist horror drama portraying the intense lives of migrants struggling for identity in a gritty yet scenic city. Set in Guwahati, it reflects Kashyap’s poetic imagination and dedication to Assam’s people. Developed as his final SRFTI dissertation under filmmaker Dominic Sangma, the world premiere at Busan marks a milestone for Kashyap and contemporary Assamese cinema on the global stage.
