EC to SC: Published Draft Voter List Includes Missing Names After Bihar SIR

The Election Commission (EC) informed the Supreme Court that it has published the list of missing names from Bihar’s draft electoral roll after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Following the August 14 order of a bench led by Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi, the booth-wise list of around 65 lakh persons whose names were excluded has been uploaded on the websites of all 38 District Election Officers. The list also specifies reasons for exclusion, such as death, change of residence, or duplicate entries. The Supreme Court will hear the matter again on Friday.
