The Assam cabinet has approved a ₹600-crore skill development project in partnership with Tata Group’s Nelco to establish 50 hubs and 500 spokes across the state, with 75% of funding from Tata. The Sarba Siksha Abhiyan will serve as the nodal agency. In the first phase, 10 hubs and 70 spokes will be set up, featuring advanced training in 10 trades and vocational courses in schools, connected via Nelco’s satellite services. Additionally, sanction letters for over 3.14 lakh PMAY-G beneficiaries were cleared. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said the project will boost youth opportunities, research, innovation, and industry linkages in Assam.
