On Friday night, Kolhapur’s Siddharthnagar area witnessed a violent clash between two groups during a programme marking 31 years of the Rajebagswar Football Club. Objections over banners, posters and sound systems led to heated arguments, escalating into stone-pelting, arson and vandalism. Around 10 people were injured, two cars were torched, and nearly nine vehicles were damaged. Windows were shattered, and roadside property was ruined. Police deployed over 200 personnel to restore order. Authorities confirmed the clash stemmed from a misunderstanding. SP Kolhapur appealed for calm, urging residents to ignore rumours and assuring that the situation was under control.
