Guwahati is set for a grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, highlighted by a 41-feet idol of Lord Ganesh at Fatasil Ambari, claimed to be Northeast India’s tallest. The Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Youth Club and Telugu Association are jointly organising their 40th celebration. Advisor Samba Sivarao said artisans from Kolkata and locals are crafting the eco-friendly idol without plastics or synthetic colours. Last year, a 35-foot idol was built. This year’s pandal theme is “Operation Sindoor,” inspired by India’s May 7 military action against terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has been invited.
