The Meghalaya government has launched the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (CMSS) 2025, a flagship initiative announced in the 2025-26 budget by CM Conrad K. Sangma to enhance access to higher education. The scheme offers an annual scholarship of ₹6,000 to nearly 80,000 students from Class 11 to PhD, studying in recognised institutions within or outside Meghalaya. Unlike other scholarships, CMSS has no income ceiling and covers students of both government and private institutions. The state has allocated ₹48 crore annually. Applications open online from September 1, requiring domicile proof, marksheet, photo, and institution certificate for eligibility.
