Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha urged people not to create controversies over the selection of newly recruited doctors in the state. Speaking at the appointment letter distribution ceremony for GDMOs, he said clearing MBBS exams itself proves eligibility to practice, as recognized by the National Medical Council. Addressing social media debates on low marks of some candidates, Saha stressed that grades alone cannot measure a doctor’s ability, since medical training is rigorous and requires clearing NEET and multiple exams. He clarified that MBBS graduates are legally eligible to practice, even if competitive exams are required only for government posts.
