Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Governor of Manipur, was sworn in as the 22nd Governor of Nagaland on Monday, succeeding the late La Ganesan. The oath was administered by Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, in the presence of CM Neiphiu Rio, his deputies, ministers, MLAs, and dignitaries. After the ceremony, Bhalla met the State Cabinet and inspected a guard of honour. While the event saw wide participation, the Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP), representing five tribes, boycotted it, demanding inclusion in a commission to review Nagaland’s decades-old job reservation policy.
