Tezpur University inaugurated the newly built Nelson Mandela International Hostel to accommodate its growing number of foreign students. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh opened the two-storey facility, which in its first phase offers 44 single-seater rooms designed for comfort and privacy. The hostel aims to enhance global engagement and diversity on campus, currently hosting students from 22 countries. Future expansion will raise capacity to 140, adding an Activity Center and Library for cultural exchange and academic interaction. Named after Nelson Mandela, it symbolizes inclusivity and peace. On the same day, a modern unisex salon, LAVANYA, was also inaugurated on campus.
