Nagaland Students Oppose Regularisation of 147 Assistant Professors, Urge Recruitment Through NPSC

Thousands of students and job aspirants in Nagaland protested the state government's April 21 decision to regularise 147 ad-hoc and contract assistant professors without open recruitment. Led by the Naga Students' Federation (NSF), the protesters demand the posts be filled through the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), calling the move unjust and a blow to meritocracy. The Combined Technical Aspirants Nagaland (CTAN) and Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) joined in, demanding revocation of the order, dissolution of the High-Powered Committee (HPC), and competitive recruitment. Despite the cabinet shortening the HPC’s report timeline, protests continue amid calls for justice and transparency.
