Meghalaya CM Reviews Monsoon Readiness, Orders Grassroots Activation and Risk Mapping

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma held a high-level meeting with Deputy Commissioners and SDMA officials to review monsoon preparedness. He emphasized coordinated disaster response and directed DCs to engage with Block, Village Disaster Management Committees (BDMCs/VDMCs), and Village Executive Committees (VECs). Sangma stressed operationalising VDMCs, reviewing emergency helplines, and conducting pending disaster drills. He also urged drafting mitigation guidelines and analysing soil and water body data to identify flood- and landslide-prone areas. These measures aim to enhance grassroots disaster readiness and minimize monsoon-related risks across the state.
