Following India's "Operation Sindoor" targeting terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Pakistan launched heavy cross-border shelling, killing at least nine civilians and injuring 38 in Jammu and Kashmir. Areas in Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, and Tangdhar witnessed intense artillery fire. Two CRPF jawans were also injured, and schools and colleges in five border districts were shut due to security concerns. Airports in Jammu, Srinagar, and Leh suspended operations. The Indian Army reported that Pakistan violated the ceasefire with artillery fire in Bhimber Gali, to which India responded in a "calibrated manner," stressing that its strikes were non-escalatory and avoided military targets.
