India to Hold Nationwide Civil Defence Mock Drill on May 7: Complete List of 244 Locations

Amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs is conducting nationwide civil defence mock drills, codenamed ‘Operation Abhyas’, on Wednesday, May 7, across 244 districts. The move follows the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people. The drills aim to enhance preparedness and include air raid warning sirens, blackout protocols, and public education on safety during attacks. State governments have mobilized volunteers from NCC, NSS, and NYKS, along with school and college students. The drills are organized in all states and Union Territories, with districts grouped into three operational zones.
