Three junior commandos from Telangana's Greyhounds, an anti-Maoist task force, were killed in a landmine blast on Thursday morning at the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border. The blast, triggered by Maoists, occurred during a routine area domination exercise near the Veerabhadravaram-Tadapala hillocks in the Mulugu district, a Maoist-affected area. This is the first fatal incident involving Left-wing extremists (LWE) in Telangana this year. While Chhattisgarh Police have been pursuing Maoists in the region, Telangana Police was not involved in the operation. The incident comes amid calls for peace talks with the Maoists from Telangana's ruling Congress party.
