Manipur has announced ₹10 lakh in financial assistance for the family of BSF constable Deepak Chimngakham, who was killed in a Pakistani drone strike on May 10 along the Indo-Pak border. The 25-year-old soldier from Imphal East was deployed at the Kharkhola Border Outpost with the 7th Battalion of the BSF at the time of the attack. The aid will be granted under the Major Laishram Jyotin Singh Ashok Chakra (P) Scheme, meant for families of personnel who die in the line of duty. A wreath-laying ceremony will be held on May 13 at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal.
