After a 10-day ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Border Security Force (BSF) will resume the Beating Retreat ceremony on Tuesday evening at the Attari-Wagah, Hussainiwala, and Fazilka borders in Punjab, in a scaled-down format. There will be no handshake or border gate openings with Pakistani forces, but spectators can still attend. The ceremony, held since 1959, involves a military drill and lowering of national flags near dusk. Normally, sweets are exchanged on special occasions, but this tradition has been disrupted due to past conflicts and the COVID-19 pandemic.
