Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel arrived in Delhi for a three-day visit to review the implementation of the India-Maldives comprehensive economic and maritime security partnership with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. This marks Khaleel’s third India visit this year and reflects intensified high-level exchanges. He will also lead the Maldives at the second High-Level Core Group meeting. Despite strained ties since President Mohamed Muizzu’s pro-China stance and his demand to withdraw Indian troops after taking office in November 2023, relations began to improve following his October visit to Delhi where he expressed intent to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
