At the NITI Aayog meeting, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma proposed developing a new city in Thenzawl, Serchhip district, to ease overcrowding in Aizawl, where 80% of the state's population lives. The proposed city could house 10–15 lakh people. He highlighted state initiatives like the ‘Bana Kaih’ scheme offering collateral-free loans up to ₹50 lakh, investment policies, and ITI-industry tie-ups. He noted Mizoram’s 2.2% unemployment rate, 45% female workforce, and full literacy status. The state also launched the 'Empowering Mizoram Sports' scheme and is working with NITI Aayog on plans to contribute to India's development goals by 2047.
