Manipur Groups Plant 300 Trees on World Environment Day, Plan Additional 2,000 Trees

On World Environment Day, three major Manipur organizations—the All Manipur United Clubs' Organization, Manipuri Students' Federation, and Thangmeiband United Club—launched a large-scale reforestation campaign in Imphal West. They planted around 300 saplings at Cheiraoching foothills, planning to plant over 2,000 more at higher elevations soon. Leaders emphasized trees’ role in combating climate change and preserving ecology. The initiative involved many local volunteers and highlighted the need for long-term care of saplings and stricter controls on commercial tree felling. The campaign aims to strengthen Manipur’s environmental resilience through community-driven conservation efforts.
