Amid heavy rainfall and landslides in Mizoram, the state government has urged citizens to harvest rainwater due to severe damage to pipelines and pumping systems. Aizawl faces water scarcity as flooding and turbidity in the Tlawng river disrupted supply. Water systems in Kolasib, Khawzawl, Hnahthial, Mamit, and Siaha districts have also been affected. Over 769 landslide incidents have been reported, displacing 452 families and damaging 272 houses. Five people, including three Myanmar refugees, have died. Authorities advised cautious water use and emphasized rainwater collection as treatment plants and pipelines have been rendered ineffective or damaged across multiple districts.
