Green Mizoram Day was celebrated across the state on June 11 with the theme "Plant trees and catch the rain," emphasizing the role of afforestation in water conservation and climate resilience. Environment Minister Lalthansanga highlighted the importance of trees in preserving groundwater, preventing erosion, and supporting biodiversity. Ceremonial tree plantation drives took place in all districts. Governor General (Rtd) V.K. Singh and his wife also planted the state tree at Raj Bhavan. Officials stated that over 46 lakh trees have been planted since the day’s inception in 1999, reaffirming Mizoram’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
